Ethiopian food!

On our outing today, we had our first authentic Ethiopian dishes... We asked our hotel driver to take us to a good restaurant and he took us to some sort of western-style saloon that had a bunch of American dishes, which is probably what he figured we would prefer. But there was still a traditional section to satisfy our hunger for adventure :). We ordered tibs, which is meat in spicy sauce, and injera, which is a pancake-like flatbread they use to pick up the food (or so we assume... no one else was eating at the time for us to scope out, but there were no forks...). We ordered a couple dishes of tibs-fifer or something like that, which really means soggy injera bread already mixed in with the meat sauce, and that was a little too much sogginess for us. BUT, overall, the flavors were really good and it was a fun first food adventure!!

  1. Tibs is definitely a great dish. The great thing about Ethiopian food is the wide variety available. http://www.easyethiopiatravel.com/traditional-ethiopianfood.shtml
